The Election Poll on this website is produced with CrowdSignal by Automattic:
Who we (Automattic) are what this policy covers:
We are the folks behind a variety of products and services designed to allow anyone — from bloggers, to photographers, small business owners, and enterprises — to take full advantage of the power and promise of the open web. Our mission is to democratize publishing and commerce so that anyone with a story can tell it, and anyone can turn their great idea into a livelihood. We believe in powering the open internet with code that is open source and are proud to say that the vast majority of our work is available under the General Public License (“GPL”). Unlike most other services, because our GPL code is public, you can actually download and take a look at that code to see how it works.
What information do we collect?
Obviously we collect and compile the data pertaining to the poll, i.e. the candidate(s) you select. Like virtually every website, we too check your IP address when you visit.
How is this information used?
The candidate selection data collected is use solely to generate the results you see on the page. We use your IP address one time – to automatically verify your approximate region (city/country). This enables us to filter out irrelevant poll results from foreign regions. We also use the IP address to filter out users who would try to manipulate the poll by voting multiple times.
Can my identity be discovered or stolen?
No. Internet service providers, by law, do not provide any means of cross referencing your device’s IP address with your personal physical address or identity.
